Excelsior JET stops developing its AOT compiler after 18 years of work

Those who follow what is happening with the Java platform are probably in the topic that there is a very interesting AOT compiler for Java developed by a Russian company from Novosibirsk. This is one of those projects to be proud of.

More recently, everything was very good:

  1. Standard x86 version could be obtained free
  2. Developers were interviewed, from which it followed that the product does not stand still, developing: Severe Siberian JVM: large Excelsior JET interview
  3. At JPoint 2019 Nikita Lipsky ( pjBooms ) gave a very interesting report: JPoint 2019: from dawn to dusk

And in one day, it seems, it was all over. Today I learned that the other day customers received a letter of happiness with the title: "There will be no Excelsior JET 16".

pjBooms , is it really true? So this is how the only working AOT compiler will disappear after 18 years of success in the market?
